About The Winding Road

The Winding Road brings a sense of playfulness to everyday spaces through handcrafted felt pieces that are as joyful as they are thoughtfully made. From whimsical garlands and ornaments to charming hanging mobiles, each design is full of color, texture, and personality—whether it’s a string of woodland animals, a cluster of soft florals, or a delightfully quirky cast of sheep, owls, or even pirates.

Behind the lighthearted designs is a long-term commitment to craftsmanship and fair trade. Since 2012, The Winding Road has partnered with a small felt workshop in Nepal, founded by a young couple who moved to Kathmandu in search of new opportunities. What began as a small collaboration has grown into a thriving partnership, now supporting more than 75 women artisans.

Each piece is handmade using traditional felting techniques, creating work that feels both personal and enduring. By providing fair wages, safe working conditions, and ongoing support, The Winding Road helps create meaningful economic opportunities for its makers. A portion of profits also goes toward covering full school tuition for the artisans’ children—an investment in the next generation.

The result is a collection that feels good in every sense: thoughtfully designed, skillfully made, and rooted in a story that goes far beyond the finished piece.
